{ mini twin }

Today, I made a mini raglan shirt to match mine.

I read about drafting a pattern and decided against that. I bought the Baboosh Sewing raglan shirt pattern.

I cut the shirt in a size 18-24, which should be plenty of room to grow. The neckline sewed up as I expected. The cuffs with the pattern are wide and angled. The idea is that the pattern has extra long sleeves that can be pushed or rolled up with tight cuffs. Oddly, the cuffs were really tight. Maybe using a rib knit instead of the reverse of the fabric would have more stretch. I abandoned the pattern and cut a 2″ x 5.75″ rectangle.

The other modification was for the bottom hem. The pattern used a zig zag or double needle for the bottom hem. I added a cuff at the bottom to serge it all together and have it match the other shirt.

One interesting complication this evening. The tension on my serger was off. I think the tension knobs or threads were moved when the housekeeper dusted. The manual has clear diagrams so I was able to re-thread and then adjust the tension without too much effort.

And a fun moment. Babies grow. The pink crab pants fit perfectly and were traipsed all across town today!
