The fit on the pink pants with the fun crab pattern is nearly excellent. Length, width, and the ankle hems fit perfectly. The elastic waist is a bit too large cause droopy pants. However, I used a very stiff elastic. Dritz Woven Waistband elastic. It’s too hard and stiff to be comfortable on anyone’s waist for very long.
After loads of research, I determined that I need (want) to go to Shindo NYC. It seems like Japan makes very nice elastic. In the meantime, I ordered two varieties of Dritz soft waistband elastic.
While waiting for the elastic, I made my favorite shirt pattern.
I have two of these shirts already that I wear on a regular basis. The fit and style are perfect for me. Much to my delight, owning a serger did make this fast!
It took less than 3 hours total. And having a dedicated space meant that I got to leave my project waiting for me.
I used the reverse side of the fabric as the ribbing. I love how it looks. The neck hem was a beast. I don’t know why the hem piece seemed so short compared to the collar, but it ended up gathering in a nice way. No pinches or bunches either. Though I did forget to put the serger foot down at first and really complicate things for myself. I left the extra stitching as it doesn’t show when wearing it.
The lighting in my sewing room is pretty terrible right now. It’s the same blue and black fabric as in a previous post. Anyhow, I may topstitch the neckline at some point. I currently have hot pink thread on my sewing machine so it won’t be tonight.
