{ tiny t-shirts }

Today’s sewing adventure used a pattern that I printed a few months ago. I have no idea where I found it or what the instructions were. So I moved cautiously.

Using the jersey knit with pink crabs and a short sleeve tshirt pattern for toddlers, I started sewing. First, side seams and shoulders. Then, I began the sleeves.

I decided to serge the sleeve arm hems flat so I can finish them using the sewing machine later. Then I tried the blind hem stitch on the sewing machine. I tested it on a different fabric, and it worked perfectly. On this fabric, it pulled and gathered oddly. The photos show the top side of the stitch, the bottom side of the stitch, and the flipped sleeve hem.

The hem was just a bit less finished than I was hoping. I have thread in the mail to try my double needle on the sewing machine so I’ll wait to finish the sleeve and waist hems then.

I also want to cut a shirttail hem rather than the straight across cut.
