{ summer sweats }

Summer has arrived. And summer in Texas is HOT.

Which means folks crank up the AC. Which means I’m always freezing indoors. My favorite summer outfits for errands are shorts and (breathable) long sleeve shirts, which is another reason why I love this Linden sweatshirt pattern.

The same store where I learned to make this pattern has open sewing time when there aren’t classes. Full use of their sergers, cutting tables, irons and accessories in a sunny, spacious room. Today, I had the whole workspace to myself so I crank up the tunes and went to work!

That’s getting a bit ahead of myself though. Yesterday, I cut out the pattern pieces at home and pinned them all.

When I arrived at the shop, I spent a bit of time calibrating the machine with my fabric using these lovely blog posts on serger tension from DIBY club and understanding differential feed from Simple Simon and Company. I also had to pull up the serger manual to figure out how to adjust the cutting width. It took about 15 minutes to get it perfectly set for my fabric. Not bad at all. About two hours later, the sweatshirt was done, and I was off to run errands!
