{ our burnt orange couch }

Months (and months) after getting married, we finally found THE COUCH. We saw it in the store and instantly agreed it was the worst possible color. Then we sat down and agreed it was the most comfortable couch we’d ever sat on. The salesman brought us champagne. We flipped through custom color samples. My husband decided the worst possible color was starting to grow on him. The salesman called it terra cotta. I call it burnt orange. To settle the debate, we brought a color sample home where it matched every thing in our house perfectly. Walls, floors, current furniture. UGH! Yet, it is truly the best couch ever. We both love it. And, I spend my time making new throw pillows every few months.

The previous pillows were this fabric… but this was pre-serger days. And, the covers were too small so the pillows were constantly bulging out.

With my freshly borrowed serger, I whipped out these new pillow covers in less than an hour. And, they are the right size!

Throw Pillows

Here’s a picture of the seams. No pinning required! I just lined up the pattern to cut, fold, and serge away. I did two seams on my sewing machine. You can see the square step stitch that I was playing with in the picture below.
